Floor Harps

Lap Harps

Floor or Lap:
Solid walnut or cherry is used for the structural frame and pinblock,
with plywood side and back panels
. This makes a durable and strong, yet very lightweight harp body.
This allows cutouts to be made at the bottom and top of the string band,
making the soundboard free to vibrate over its entire surface.
Zither tuning pins are standard on the lap harps,
but tapered pins are fitted on the floor harps.

Floor harps: 200 coins.
Lap harps:
80 coins.

Hammered Dulcimer

Dulcimers are a type of psaltery or box zither which has a trapezoidal sound box
and is played by striking the strings with hammers.
Dulcimers often have one or two bridges
over which the strings crossed providing the opportunity
for more pitches because the performer could strike a sound on each side of the bridge.
The hammers are held between the index and middle fingers.
Soundboards can be decorated.

Hammered dulcimer, with case and extra set of strings, hammers: 80 coins.

Psaltery

A bowed psaltery is probably the easiest instrument in the world to play.
It's a 20" long by 8" wide triangle with strings running its length,
and is played with a bow. You play the sides of the instrument only, .
One side of the instrument is all natural notes,
like the white keys on a piano. The other side is all flats and sharps,
like the black keys on a piano.
The space between each pin is a separate note.

All bowed psalteries included a bow, extra string, rosin,
tuning wrench and note guides and come in a handsome case.

Psaltery: 65 coins.
