The core of Serenissima was of course, the people that made it flourish. A community where the arts and design were the renaissance of the soul. Great patrons of the finer crafts, starving artist bards, devotees of haute style and architecture, those with the well read and the well traveled..and those who simply wished to be so. They drank life as if it were a vintage pinot noir, and saw it through the colors of an artist's palette. Some were wealthy and draped in rare gems, others bohemian to the core and reveling in midnight readings at some smoky back alley tavern. What they all had in common, that which drew them together, was the unadulterated enjoyment of life's inspiration... be it a simple line of words on a page,  the curve on a piece of wood that almost breathed its own life, a perfectly poised pirouette, or the grandest masterpiece of this golden age..

The center of this activity was largely located independently  in Nethyrin, the oldest city on the continent of Orietheldarin. The city was a cultural haven that had flourished through the centuries, largely populated by elves, bards, and the arts society.

The home of a theatre, opera house, and a symphony orchestra, a cultural center for the performing arts, it made the perfect sanctuary for the ideals of Serenissima.  The Duchess' palazzo,  and the fine dining restaurant Preludio  were titled into the legacy. The cafés and taverns were a vital meeting place where new ideas were hatched and mulled over. Arguments were common, some fueled by intellect, others by alcohol. If you couldn't pay your bill, some would often accept a drawing, holding it until the artist could pay. As such, there were times when the café's walls were littered with a collection of artworks, that would make the curators of the world's greatest museums drool with envy.

Beyond Orietheldarin's borders existed even more. The Vox manor in Sanibel was a crown jewel of design, and properties spread from a lighthouse on the elite Sanibel coastline, to the ancestral castle in Scotland....

The arts Society within Serenissima was born from the swirling heartbeat. One of the only not-for-profit organizations in this corner of the realm, it sought to encourage artistic endeavors by providing grant and prize money for events and cultural projects. Deemed a grand success in its first endeavor, it hosted an auction during Nethyrin's carnival season, and earned enough foundation funds to start its own legacy.

The ocean was without end, a great sea of prosperity.  The greatest fleets of the era battled over the most lucrative trade routes for spices, precious gems and gold. It was a lucrative age for the tall ships that provided the lifelines to each city. The roots of Serenissima traced back through a thriving shipping history, one still much in evidence with their formidable maritime reputation. Port access was gained all over the map, yet left them unencumbered with the day to day organization and defense of a whole port.

Their playgrounds ranged through all sorts of pursuits, but perhaps nowhere quite as brilliantly as in the equestrian world. Desert Winds was home to top rankers in the QCC circuit, including #1 Calinrua. Prince Samael Rhenvana had his own spate of contending racers in Grey Starlight Stables.
